Following the selection of Taylor Wimpey as Preferred Bidder in February this year, Wandsworth Council has signed a Joint Venture agreement for the regeneration of the Winstanley and York Road Estates in Clapham Junction, south-west London.
GVA has acted as Wandsworth Council’s commercial adviser since 2015, assisting in developing the development and commercial proposition to put to market, and then leading the OJEU partner procurement process in 2016. With GVA retained as commercial adviser, the Council has now finalised terms for the partnership with Taylor Wimpey.
The regeneration of the 1960s Winstanley and York Road estates will provide more than 2,200 new homes alongside retail and leisure uses and is one of the largest estate regeneration opportunities in London.
All 530 secure council tenants are guaranteed a newly built home on their estate, along with all owner-occupiers, while the council is building 107 more social rent homes on the site.
Prior to its appointment as development and procurement adviser, GVA previously undertook masterplanning and socio-economic analysis work on behalf of the Council, helping to make the case for intervention, including undertaking consultation with the local community, which voted in favour of a comprehensive redevelopment approach.
